Mark Loundy

Cupertino Union School District
Instructional Technology Specialist
San Jose, California
Mark Loundy is a former journalist, photographer and social media pioneer. As an online community manager at GeoCities at the turn of the century, he helped build the foundations of what we now call social media. He brings all of those skills to education as an innovative instructional technology specialist in Silicon Valley.
He founded and operates the first makerspace in the Cupertino Union School District and leads both the video production team and afterschool tech team. The tech team created a coding language to operate a human "computer" in a virtual reality environment.
He champions technology access for underrepresented populations based on gender, neuro-diversity, and socio-economic status.
